She began acting as a child and became famous for her role as Vada Sultenfuss in the movie My Girl (1991) and its sequel, My Girl 2. Following her first appearances she went on hiatus between 1999 and 2005 in order to attend college. She began acting again in various independent films such as Blood Car (2007), In the Loop (2009). The role she played as Amy Brookheimer in the HBO series Veep (2012-1999) earned her six nominations, including the Primetime Emmy Award For Outstanding Supporting Actress In a Comedy Series.
